Joint meeting with IFA Ireland branch

Thurs 12th October 2023

Joint meeting with IFA Ireland branch

This meeting will be a joint half-day seminar with the Irish branch in Dublin on Thursday 12th October from 14:00 to 17:00 at the Shelbourne Hotel in the centre of Dublin.

The topics for discussion are as follows:

Topic 1: Tax Rulings and State Aid: An Update with speakers Philip Baker KC and Barry Doherty BL

Topic 2: Mutual Agreement Procedures and Arbitration: Irish and UK Perspectives with speakers Catherine O’Meara (Matheson), Sarah Blakelock, Dominic Vines (HMRC) and Emmet Madden (Irish Competent Authority) Representative

Topic 3: Transfer Pricing – Comparison of Current State of Play in UK and Ireland with speakers Anthony Crewe (Director, Grant Thornton), Dominic Vines (HMRC) and Dr Richard Collier

Attendance at the seminar is free to all UK branch members, and we hope as many will attend as possible.  Members will only have to cover their own travel costs.

The timing of the seminar would allow those who wished to fly in and out of Dublin on the same day to do so.  However, if you are able to stay on, there will be dinner in the Shelborne for the two branches; the cost of the dinner is Euros 100 per person.  If you are staying overnight, special rates have been arranged at several local hotels (see e-mail sent to all UK Branch members).

If you are able to attend, please let the Irish branch know as soon as possible by e-mail with your name and e-mail address to [email protected] .  Please also indicate if you intend to attend only the seminar or the dinner as well.  As dinner places are limited, please wait for confirmation that there will be a dinner place for you before paying the Irish branch bank account for the dinner.  Attendance at the dinner will be on a first-come-first-served basis, but the Irish branch intends to reserve an initial number of places for the members of the UK branch.
