IFA UK
The UK Branch of IFA was established in the 1940s to provide a platform for members, consisting of professionals from both the public and private sectors, to come together and discuss topical international tax and fiscal issues.
To achieve this, the UK branch of IFA puts on an excellent programme of monthly meetings (in-person and via Zoom) each year on tax topics of current interest, the primary focus being on international taxation. We are fortunate to be able to attract leading speakers from all parts of the tax community including the government, industry, advisers and academics. As a result, we are able to provide cutting edge technical content at our meetings from different perspectives, with a clear focus on the practical aspects of the selected topics.
We are particularly grateful for the strong support which we receive from HM Treasury and HMRC that ensures that our meetings are well-informed and balanced, furthering IFA’s overall objectives of deepening understanding of the domestic and international tax system.
In addition to our regular monthly meetings, we hold a number of all-day conferences or seminars during the year. Our joint flagship conference with HM Treasury and HM Revenue and Customs is held in June. We also hold an annual joint meeting with the European Branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation. There is an annual conference for Young Corporate International Tax practitioners. Additionally, we usually organise one or two joint meetings with other IFA branches, particularly before the annual IFA Congress.
Our members participate in Central IFA events, including the annual Congress. Recent Congresses have been held in Berlin and in Mexico. Our branch contributes to the branch reports on each of the major Congress topics, as well as providing General Reporters from time to time. The UK branch is regularly represented on the various Central IFA bodies. Members of the UK branch are extremely active in the Young IFA Network (YIN) and the Women in IFA Network (WIN).
We are keen to welcome new members to the UK branch of IFA to increase the quality and breadth of discussion, and to further broaden our network with fellow tax professionals. Membership is fantastic value for money, so please do take a look at the members area and join us!
