BEPS Treaty network (Cancun Congress Topic 1)

The topic for this meeting is the main topic 1 for the 2020 Global Congress in Cancun.   The purpose of this topic is to consider the impact of the MLI on the structure and operation of the tax treaty network, assessing its direct influence on Covered Tax Agreements, its indirect influence on the negotiation of bilateral tax treaties, and the practical implementation of these provisions in the application of the MLI and bilateral tax treaties.

I am delighted that we will be joined by the following expert speakers who will share their perspectives on this topic:

  • Andrew Roycroft – Senior Editor, Tax at Practical Law.   Andrew has kindly agreed to be the UK branch reporter for this topic.
  • Jonathan Schwarz – Barrister, Temple Tax Chambers, and world renowned expert on tax treaty matters.
  • Tom Matthews, Policy Adviser, HMRC Tax Treaty Team
